All about Ingrid and writING science

Ingrid R Niesman MS PhD

I received my BS from Utah State University and worked on agriculturally important diseases of bees and grasshoppers as an undergraduate. Following a year as a Pathologist’s Assistant, I completed my MS from University of Illinois-Urbana specializing in advanced electron microscopy and with a neuroscience focus. After years of successful research at LSUHS – New Orleans, Washington University – St. Louis, UAMS – Little Rock, TSRI – San Diego and UC-San Diego, I obtained my PhD from University of Sunderland UK. For my postdoctoral work at California Institute for Biomedical Sciences (Calibr), I was developing drug screening assays for inhibition of Myc and K-Ras with CRISPR-Cas9 technology, and devising cellular senescence models; and isolating bone marrow derived-mesenchymal stem cells to treat osteoporosis. Currently I work as Research Administrator for a hiPSC disease modeling lab, focused on Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases at UC-San Diego.

I recently took Science Writing I and am enrolled in Granting Writing I & II. Please enjoy my blogging and let me know if you have any ideas to add. There are never enough authors in the world.
